Is your Monday-to-Friday, 9-to-5 job crushing your wanderlustful spirit? MINE TOO.

Garnering the sympathy of absolutely no one, I only recently transitioned into this schedule from a 3-day work week. That’s a 4-day weekend every. week. To be honest, I didn’t take advantage of those long weekends to travel terribly often, but I liked knowing that I could. While I do miss that time and flexibility, my complaining is only half-serious because I am so fortunate to have traveled and seen as much as I have in my 20-something years. My tradeoff for those long weekends is my (arguably) dream role at an organization where I get to better others’ lives, where I am highly respected, and where I have a good bit of potential for personal and professional growth.

Nonetheless, in an effort to live vicariously (through my past self…is that a thing?), and to create happiness for myself by doing what I enjoy (sharing and discussing travel with others), I’m going to start the “Throwback Thursday” series. Every Thursday, I’ll write about a past trip of mine, for which I have a lot of fodder since I’ve missed literally a year’s worth of posts. The “readventure self” element comes into play because sometimes no amount of comfort zone-challenging and introspection can replace some good old fashioned formal treatment for moderate to severe depression. BUT I’M BACK TO “ME,” AND LIFE IS GOOD.

On the schedj for next week: Iceland! Stay tuned!
